Escalator are a common sight in public place, such as shopping mall, airports, and subway stations. They are a convenient way to transport people between different levels of a building without having to use stairs. There are several different types of escalators, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Escalators come in various types, designed to meet different architectural and operational needs.

Here are some common types of escalators:-

1. Straight Escalator:- These are the most common type of escalators and move in a straight line between two levels. They are widely used in shopping malls, airports, and transportation hubs. Also known as travelator.

2. Curved Escalator:- Curved escalators have a gently curved or spiral shape, making them suitable for locations with limited space or where a straight escalator wouldn't fit. They are less common but can be found in some upscale retail stores and public areas.

3. Spiral Escalator:- Spiral escalators have a circular or spiral configuration, providing an aesthetic and space-efficient solution for moving between levels. They are often seen as architectural features in high-end malls and commercial buildings.

4. Inclined Escalator:-These are the most common type of escalator used in many places. Inclined escalators or stairway escalator are designed to move passengers on an incline rather than a vertical rise. They are used in places where it's necessary to traverse a sloped terrain or where a gentle incline is preferred.

5. Outdoor Escalator:- These escalators are designed to withstand outdoor conditions, including exposure to weather elements such as sun, rain and snow etc. They are commonly used in places like outdoor stadiums, ski resorts, train station, airport and urban areas with elevated walkways.

6. Heavy-Duty Escalator:- These escalators are designed for industrial or high-traffic environments where they need to handle heavier loads or endure more frequent use. They are commonly found in manufacturing facilities and large transportation hubs.

7. Retrofit Escalator:- Retrofit escalators are designed to replace existing escalators while utilizing the same structural footprint. They are a cost-effective solution to update older escalators with newer, more energy-efficient models.

8. Mall Escalator:- Some escalators are designed with features specific to shopping malls, such as advertising spaces on the sides or specially designed handrails. These are often customized to match the mall's aesthetic.

9. Energy-Efficient Escalator:- With a growing emphasis on energy conservation, many escalators are designed with energy-efficient features such as LED lighting, standby modes, and variable speed operation to reduce energy consumption.

10. Escalator for wheelchair access:- These escalator are designed to make it easy for people with disabilities to use escalators. This function also found in some normal escalator. In this type of escalator two step at same level make steps wider then standard step to accommodate wheel chair.

Each type of escalator serves a specific purpose and can be tailored to the needs of the building or environment in which it is installed. The choice of escalator type depends on factors like space constraints, passenger volume, architectural considerations, and safety requirements.
